Seminar 37. Issues Update: U.S. State Building Energy Codes Legislation and Regulations
ASHRAE 2012 Winter Conference
States are one of the most active areas of building codes legislation and regulations in the United States. They often look to each other for direction, and the actions of a few key states can impact several others, and possibly the entire nation. Legislation has been introduced in several states that would use ASHRAE standards to help accomplish policymakers’ energy efficiency and other goals. This session updates members on the current status and chances of passage of building codes legislation in key states, providing insight into the intersection between what is politically acceptable and what is helpful, in a technical sense, to the building industry.
